What we do here at HBC is make beer, great beer, great beer that we enjoy drinking. We also have the opportunity to share our love of beer with visitors who drop by to watch us work, sample our wares or just have a chat. We make a large range of beers with a huge range of colours, aromas & flavours & we firmly believe there is a beer in there for everyone – and the only real way to find out is by visiting us and tasting the beer!
Our brewery is very small, one of the smallest in the country. We strive to create a beer experience for our customers. Visit the brewery, chat to a brewer, watch us at work - the person who made the beer will be pouring the beer for you to enjoy!
Most of our beer is sold on-site, but if you are unable to visit us our beer is available in other locations (several restaurants, pubs and bottleshops) or you can order on-line . Visit Our Store Here.
The Head Brewer is Keith Grice and he has been running the show since 2007. Having some fun while making great beer and sharing the love is his mission statement.
Daniel was a home brewer who got bitten by the beer bug and decided he wanted to try his hand at being a professional brewer. So now he's sharing the love at Hunter Beer Co.
2003 Hunter Beer Co. was established at Potters Hotel & Brewery by the Colismo family,
Luke Scott appointed Head Brewer;
HBC originally contracted brewed St Arnou beers;
HBC released its own flagship beer, the Hunter Kolsch, quickly followed by a European
Style Lager and a dark Bock beer.
2004 Hunter Pale Ale & and a European Lager added to the regular range of beers offered by
Hunter Beer Co.
2005 Seasonal beer releases in full swing including an Oyster Stout & Oktoberfest Lager.
2006 A purpose-built building was constructed to house the brewery and allow visitors
better access to the Brewery.
2007 Hunter Lager awarded champion Lager at Royal Perth Beer Show
Keith Grice appointed Head Brewer;
2008 Hunter Beer Co. and Potters Hotel & Brewery sold to Hamish and Prue Ord;
2009 Hunter Beer Co. Web site launched.
2010 Hunter Beer Co. Chocolate Porter awarded Champion Porter Trophy @
Australian International Beer Awards
2011 The Brewery was refurbished to create a dedicated tasting area
2012 Fermentation capacity was increased by install of 2 X 12HL unitanks
2013 Hunter Beer Co. web site redesigned
Celebrating 10 years by releasing 10 beers in 10 weeks
2014 Head Brewer Keith Grice introduces a tap devoted to barrel fermented beers.
Fermentation in ex wine barrels imparts unique flavours and textures to beers
2015 Hunter Bock crowned Champion Dark Lager at national Craft Beer Awards
